It can be scary to speak up and say what our truth is. Sometimes when we've done this in the past it really hasn't gone well for us. Sometimes the reaction hurt us or even harmed us. Yet, we can practice speaking up anyway. When we practice speaking, we may benefit from practicing with an open heart. We may also need to practice speaking with trust in our own ability to respond to what comes next. And when we practice in these ways we may be able to move through — and with — our fears and to strengthen our voice in the world. What helps you speak when it is scary to do so? [image description: Two hearts stand facing each other. The heart on the left has a quizzical and tentative facial expression and its mouth is open as if about to speak to the heart on the right who is simply and peacefully smiling back at the heart on the left. Text reads: "Beginner's heart wants to heart it."]
