Let's revisit the folly of missing out so that we can take a moment of bemusement at the perhaps lesser-known definition of folly, an ornate building with no substantial utility, and remember Burning Man's hit, The Folly. What's a word you just learned, or recently learned a new meaning of, that you'd been missing out on before? [image description: A heart sits on a stone inside a tiny ornate gazebo with one hand on chin, elbow on knee, and with a slight frown. The gazebo or folly casts a shadow over the sitting heart. Outside this structure in the green grass another heart stands, arms thrown up and out in apparent celebration, and smiles up at the blue sky and sun. Text reads: "FOMO folly of missing out."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2021. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. Celebrating three years of daily cartoons.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
