Sometimes we just don't get along with metamours. For a range of reasons — some originating in them and some coming from ourselves — we may mostly be in a mode of self-protection when interacting with certain metamours. We may also just not like our metamour's personality or agree with their behaviors. Though it may be less than desirable for our shared paramour, just not liking someone is always ok. Still, we can perhaps always come back to respect for others' humanity, and this can be a boon for everyone in the system of love relationships, including ourselves. What helps you come back to respect in your tougher metamour relationships? [image description: Surrounded by teal starburst-shaped flowers, a heart smiles out at the viewer. Text reads: "We may not have chosen each other, but I respect you."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2021. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. Celebrating three years of daily cartoons.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
