This one is for all the metamour meditation and Buddhism nerds. Metta is a Pali word for practicing loving-kindness, benevolence, and unconditional positive regard for all beings. Metta is described as the innate friendliness of an open heart. Practicing metta with metas can be helpful, rewarding, difficult, important, and much, much more. Besides being a silly pun, explicitly being mettamours may be a helpful reminder to practice metta in this way. Do you have other puns that you love to make with the word metamour? [image description: Two hearts sit with legs crossed, elbows resting on knees, and palms gently open and facing up. The hearts are smiling pleasantly toward each other. Text reads: "Let's me mettamours."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2021. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. Celebrating three years of daily cartoons.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
