Sometimes we may struggle to take responsibility in a situation because we fear that we will end up taking responsibility alone or taking too much responsibility, that we will take on what others are responsible for, or that we will find out that others are unwilling to take responsibility for their parts. Sometimes we may be attached to being responsible as part of our identity, and not know how to see others as responsible, fearing that we will lose our place. As the Dalai Lama calls us to do, we must not let these fears stop us from going ahead and striving to take responsibility for our part in the ecosystem. Taking responsibility is not abdicating others' responsibility for them. Taking responsibility is not hogging authority and glory. Taking responsibility happens at the same time that we encourage others to do the same, and when necessary, demand that they do so. Seeking to take responsibility for what is truly our part models, nourishes, and grows the universal capacity to be responsible together. What part of life are you being responsible for today? Text reads, "'Today, more than ever before, life must be characterized by a sense of universal responsibility.' — Dalai Lama"]
