Some people suddenly, achingly, at the corner of tragedy and waking the hell up, put down roots, deep roots, in your heart. Mark Resch was the exact person I needed in order to grow with through cosmic abandonment. We could have quarreled in some way about who was more abandoned, but we both discovered in ourselves and through our friendship the truth — that our shared love simply loved us both and there was no contest about it. This was a lesson that would wonderfully haunt our growing friendship, compelling us to both grow beyond our shared tragic loss, and learn to trust that we could keep finding love, including in ourselves. I found myself more determined than ever to finish getting my therapy license and have a fulfilling career. And when Mark told me he was turning toward a career in therapy I was certain this would be a boon for a great many. Do you believe that love is a contest? Why or why not? |
Today's cartoon is the glorious reimagining of a drawing I didn't know what to do with until one of my Patreon supports added just the magic it needed to bring this image back from the trash pile. |
