We are all in one way a collection of genetic material, instructions for life written into each of our cells. And these instructions have a history, somewhat in the way a copy of a photograph by copy machine or by hand-drawn reproduction or by reprinting are all iterations of art, a place, and a moment in time. Indeed, we maybe are all iterations of creative energy unfolding in the universe. What's one thing that is meaningful to you about your genes? MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2019. On this day 2018. Celebrating two years of daily cartoons. [image description: A dark blue sicklebill bird perches at the top of a fallow tree trunk preparing to do its mating dance and having the anthropomorphic thought, "You must learn to rest in your genes." A heart with a quizzical facial expression stands below against a pink sky watching the sicklebill. Text reads: "Sicklebill Meditation."]

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
