We may focus on therapy settings as places to begin again, to hit a restart button and refresh parts of our lives. We may seek to heal old wounds, transform ourselves, and be renewed. Nonetheless, therapy can also be a place where things end, where we go to find and say a goodbye and put something to bed. We may benefit from an explicit container designed to help us close a chapter in our lives. We may need help grieving something lost long ago. Or, we may discover that we are moving toward a goodbye that we weren't yet aware was coming. For a range of circumstances and purposes, we may experience therapy as supportive in meeting life's departures, losses, and finalities with compassion, equanimity, and even joy. How has therapy supported your journey with endings? Or, what's one way that you practice with endings in your life? ~ ~ ~ #TherapyCan MindfulHearts retrospective.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
