Speaking out against systemic injustice can bring a lot of hostile reactions from people. Those who lash out in response to calls to end oppression may certainly also be suffering. But the sometimes intense reactivity and the repetition of violence may be a byproduct of the ways that people with power may also be clinging to their power and not being accountable to their wider communities.
